The Ride TV Show: MTV International Networks to Air Celebrity Documentaries for Demi Lovato, Snoop Dogg, and Others
The music channel MTV announced Wednesday it would be airing a new documentary series "The Ride" on its international networks. "The Ride" features insight into the careers of music artists like rapper Snoop Dogg and actress-singer Demi Lovato.
The hour-long music documentaries were produced after an initial episode was created on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, which aired in the U.K. in June. The success of this special made MTV Music decide it will continue with more in the series in Britain beginning in October, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Other international venues will start airing "The Ride" Sept. 26, according to Viacom International Media Networks, part of the parent company in charge of MTV.
Apart from Lovato and Snoop, other artists featured in the series also include Linkin Park, Jennifer Hudson, T.I. and Enrique Iglesias. Each episode will be dedicated to following an individual artist or group. It is expected that more artists will be announced later.
"The Ride" will give fans "intimate access to some of the biggest names in music" and depicts "the key moments in their careers, culminating in what they regard as their most transformative, breakthrough moment," MTV said.
It is an opportunity for the network to harness MTV's "unparalleled access to the world's biggest musical stars." MTV has ordered 10 episodes of "The Ride."
The series is produced by Storyville Entertainment's Caroline Christopher and Betsy Schecter as well as Bruce Gillmer and Elyse Zaccaro from MTV International. A spokeswoman for the network said there are no immediate plans to air the show on MTV in the U.S.
