What's better than sipping one of Mexico's most celebrated beers, a Corona, in Mexico City and listening to a fantastic lineup with some of the world's most popular electronic, rock, pop, and indie acts?

If you're a fan of artists like Kings of Leon, Jack White, Beck, Foster the People and/or Neon Trees and Weezer, among many others, then you should check out the impressive line-up at the Corona Capital Festival, which is set to rock Mexico City's Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez International Racetrack on Oct. 11-12.

Last week, the Corona Capital Festival orangizers announced their full performance lineup for the 2014 festival weekend -- and it's a good one!

In addition to Kings of Leon, Jack White, Beck, Weezer, Foster the People and Neon Trees, the two-day musical extravaganza will feature over 60 acts including: Massive Attack, Damon Albarn, Zedd, MGMT, Kasabian, The Kooks, Belle & Sebastian, The Horrors, Haim, Sbtrkt, Little Dragon, Lykke Li, St. Vincent, Chvrches, Metronomy, Best Coast, Conor Oberst, Jenny Lewis, and Holy Ghost, Sky Ferreira, Biffy Clyro, among many others.

"This year's festival will mark the 5th anniversary of Corona Capital. With the rise of the music festival phenomenon around the world we saw a clear need for an international/indie oriented music festival in Mexico City," Armando Calvillo, Festival Marketing Director told Latin Post.

"Mexico City's population of over 20 million made it an obvious first choice because of the sheer size, but there is also an intense interest amongst young consumers for indie style music. With many Mexicans traveling to Coachella, ACL and Lolapalooza, it was clear there was a need for a festival of this kind in Mexico City. That said, everyday new festivals crop up within Mexico City and in other major cities such as Guadalajara and Monterrey. This November OCESA will launch a new festival named COORDENADA (coordenadagdl.mx) that will feature a mix of Anglo and Hispanic bands."

According to Calvillo, the line-up resonates with the Mexican audience as well as the overall Latino population.

"Corona Capital has grown from around 60,000 people to close to 200,000 in two days. The VIVE LATINO festival which is all Spanish rock, takes place in March, and is going on to its 16th edition," Calvillo added. "It's now a three-day format and features well over 100 acts from Mexico and Latin America. Finally, we are seeing huge demand for EDM within the teenage population, and responding to that our company OCESA brought Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) to Mexico for the first time this year with over 80,000 on hand."

Attendees come from all parts of the world to attend the Corona Capital Festival, but Calvillo points out that last year the festival drew attendees from 35 different countries, including the U.S., U.K., Costa Rica, and Spain, which was reported by Ticketmaster.

While the acts at the Corona Capital Festival are "100 percent Anglo," and play "mostly indie music," Calvillo says the headliners are always well received by an audience that is "very knowledgeable of the international music scene." He also points out that "there is a distinct hipster streak to the crowd."

"It kicked off in 2010 with a one day edition and since has evolved to two. The following is huge and very active on social media generating over 100 million impressions. This year (and last) the announcement of the line-up was a trending topic on Twitter and audience interaction was off the charts. It is no doubt the premier festival in Mexico, hands down. Corona Capital was ranked the number 11 festival in 2013 by Pollstar."

Since the festival's inception, there have been numerous highlights, but when asked to sum up the Top Five most memorable moments at the Corona Capital Festival, Calvillo said:

1. 2011 Portishead´s first appearance in Mexico made a magical night at the 2nd Corona Capital.

2. 2013 Capital cities "Safe and Sound" was featured on our line-up announcement video, and generated huge expectations for a band that was previously not well known. Capital Cities performance was huge at festival.

3. The BIZCO CLUB tent for electronic and other new genres was added in 2012 and was a huge success among younger audience members...memorable performances by: Basemant Jaxx, Major Lazer, A-track, M.I.A., Blondie, Giorgio Moroder.

4. Festival kick off in 2010 created a totally viral announcement with the help of 25 media partners -- each announcing different bands. Since then CC has been driven by digital and social media communications.

5. Consequence of Sound ranks CC amongst top festivals of 2014 alongside Coachella, Bonarroo, Pitchfork, and others.
