'Nuestra Belleza Latina' 2014: Lupita Jones Leaves Show; Ximena Navarrete to Be Her Replacement?
Lupita Jones has ended her run on "Nuestra Belleza Latina."
Jones confirmed that she will not be returning as a judge on the show.
"Since the season ended this year in May, I let production know that it would be impossible for me to continue as a judge on the program," Jones said.
The former Miss Universe winner explained that she has upcoming projects that will make it difficult for her to leave Mexico, which will be required as "Nuestra Belleza Latina" is filmed in Miami.
Jones wouldn't give any details on what's next for her.
"I can't talk about that because the projects are still taking shape," she said. "My life is always full of opportunities."
Some believe that Jones is leaving the show because of new judge Jomari Goyso, whom she supposedly doesn't get along with. The beauty queen quickly denied that to be the truth.
Other beauty queens are rumored to take over Jones' position. Ximena Navarrete, who was Miss Universe in 2010 and the second Mexican winner, is one of the possible candidates.
Other possible contenders are Zuleyka Rivera and Alicia Machado.
Navarrete recently opened up about whether or not she would be making a telenovela soon.
Although she explained that she has been meeting with producers about possible roles, including one where she could possibly play a villain, it doesn't seem that anything is set in stone.
"When the project comes, I'll be there," she said. "I don't know anything now."
Auditions for the show are going on now, and Osmel Sousa and crew are traveling through the United States to find the new batch of hopefuls. The last stop is Houston on Oct. 11. The show also encourages women to audition online.
The show will air next year in January.
