It's that time of year again when it seems like everyone has caught iPhone fever as we draw closer to the release date of Apple's new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

To add to the hype, Verizon Wireless is offering iPhone lovers a way to get the new smartphone for free. That's right, I said for free!

On Tuesday, Verizon announced that customers can get the hot new device without making a payment simply by trading in their old iPhone and signing a new two-year carrier agreement, reports CNN Money.

It's common for carriers to offer customers a discount on phones when they sign a service contract, or sometimes they will offer older versions for free. However, it's rare for a carrier to offer the latest model at no charge.

Those who redeem the iPhone 6 offer will trade in their old model and receive a gift card with a $200 credit that is then used to buy the 6, which is retailed at $199, reports The Morning Call.

Only working iPhone models 4, 4S, 5, 5S and 5C will be accepted for a trade-off with the 16GB version of the iPhone 6.

Verizon's offer will last until Sept. 30.

Unsurprisingly, customers are ecstatic about the new deal.

One Twitter user by the name of @TaylorDanielleH tweeted her excitement about switching carriers, writing, "Ordering the iPhone 6 tomorrow AND switching to verizon. If anyone knows my phone situation, this is going to be the best day of my life"

Another Twitter user, @Cales_, wrote, "Verizon is giving away free iPhone 6 with a 2 year agreement & phone trade in. If that's not winning, Idk what is."

In addition to the iPhone 6, Apple also revealed a larger iPhone 6 Plus model, a mobile payments system and a smartwatch that will be made available next year.

Both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will become available on Sept. 19 in the U.S.
