George Zimmerman: Threatened to Shoot Driver During Road Rage Incident
A Florida man has accused George Zimmerman of threatening him with shooting him during a driving incident. The man contacted police who then questioned Zimmerman but he pressed no charges.
The incident happened in Lake Mary, Florida on Tuesday where a man said George Zimmerman, 30, approached his car in his own vehicle and threatened him, according to ClickOrlando.com.
After that incident, the man, whose identity was not released by police at the time, pulled over into the parking lot of a Circle K convenience store to call 911 when Zimmerman parked next to his car and continued to yell at him.
"Do you know who I am?" Zimmerman supposedly told the man, according to Lake Mary Police spokeswoman Bianca Gillet. "I'll (f***ing) kill you," Zimmerman said after. However, he had left the scene before police arrived.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the man involved is named Matthew Apperson, 35, and he did not press any charges so Zimmerman will not be arrested.
"George Zimmerman was the driver, and they were threatening to kick my ___ and to shoot me," Apperson told the 911 dispatcher. He added that Zimmerman "almost hit my car" when he pulled into the Circle K parking lot.
Apperson was driving a Honda Accord and Zimmerman was driving a Honda Ridgeline and the incident began on Lake Mary Boulevard.
Apperson then called police two days later because he believed Zimmerman was following him. Police responded to his call and found Zimmerman inside his Ridgeline. However, he told the officers that he was going to a doctor's appointment in a nearby building. No charges were pressed the second time.
Zimmerman was acquitted in April 2012 for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager whom he shot, which happened on Feb. 26, 2012. His wife has also accused him or threatening her and her father with a gun but she later recanted.
