News Anchor Dave Benton Reveals Terminal Brain Cancer on Air [Watch]
A television news anchor made a shocking revelation on a local news broadcast in Illinois last week when he revealed that he may only have a few more months to live.
Dave Benton told TV viewers that his brain cancer is back and that he was told by his doctors that he only has four to six months to live during a newscast on CBS affiliate WCIA Thursday morning.
The 51-year-old anchor spoke about his declining health in a calm manner and vowed to appreciate the remaing time that he has here on earth.
"The goal here is to have a few more days and to make them the best that they can be in the life that I have," said the self-proclaimed born-again Christian.
"I believe that I'm in God's hands. I am at peace and I know he's going to take care of the days ahead and that the goal here is to have the best ones possible."
He stated that his cancer is too big for surgery and radiation, and that he plans to try an antibody treatment to slow the cancer's growth.
He also used the opportunity to shed light on other people who are suffering from cancer and need emotional support.
"It's not just really only about me," Benton said.
According to MTV News, Benton is married with a daughter and a son. He also announced that he is celebrating his nine-year anniversary at the news station this year, adding that he is "dedicated to continue good work."
"I want to know that there'll be a moment where I will stop and say, 'I hope I did good work to our viewers. I served them and I did things well,'" he said. "And I want to take an opportunity for that and make sure it happens."
