Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt New Movie Release: "By The Sea" Brings Newlyweds Together Again
Angelina Jolie has been keeping busy as she continues to write, produce and direct her own films.
Jolie's first creation was in 2011 with "In the Land of Blood and Honey," followed up with "Unbroken" being released Dec. 25.
In her third project "By The Sea" with an unknown release date, we get to watch Angelina's collaboration with husband Brad Pitt.
The first photos were released for the awaited return of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on-screen collaboration. Pitt also co-produced the film with Jolie. Her now-husband hasn't appeared on film with Jolie since 2005's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," the film which is rumored to be the beginning of their romance.
Even though not much is known about the project, what we do know is that it's a story about a collapsing marriage. Isn't that an interesting story for the couple who just finally married on Aug. 23?
The film is set in France during the mid-1970s. Jolie plays Vanessa, a former dancer, and Pitt is her husband Roland, an American writer. As they travel together they seem to be growing apart, until they run into a quiet seaside town. There they meet the town's vibrant people, such as a local bar/café-keeper (Niels Arestrup, "War Horse" and "A Prophet") and hotel owner (Richard Bohringer, "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover").
"I chose to set 'By the Sea' in the 1970s, not only because it is a colorful and alluring era, but because it removes many of the distractions of contemporary life and allows the focus to remain squarely on the emotions that the characters experience in their journey," Jolie said in a statement to EW.
"I was struck by the fact that she and Brad are willing to bring such a brave endeavor to screen and take audiences on this raw, emotional journey that's simultaneously of its moment and surprisingly timeless," said studio chairman Donna Langley. Universal Pictures will release the film and Langley said she signed on after finding Angelina's script so provocative.
