As Esmeralda finds out she is pregnant, others try to tell Pablo that she has moved on and that they aren't his children. But he doesn't want to believe that his relationship with Esmeralda is over. (Catch up on episodes 11-15 here.)

Here's what happens on episodes 16-20.

Episode 16: Esmeralda no longer wants to believe in love after finding out she's not really married to Pablo. Fela sees El Silencioso with Damian, and she gets away from him. Agustin persuades Pablo not to return to confront. He lies and says he has seen Esmeralda with the new man in her life.

El Silencioso tells Damian and Meche that no one should find out who he really is. He also tells them that he is seeking revenge on those who have wronged him. Fela advises Esmeralda to take care of her children, so that what happens to Fela doesn't happen to Esmeralda. Fela had her daughter stolen.

Episode 17: Esmeralda asks Rita to show her all the things that belonged to her mother. El Silencioso is told that his daughter is alive and that soon enough they will find out where she is. Lorenza visits Pablo in the hospital, who is delirious and talking about Esmeralda. He later asks Monica to help him forget about Esmeralda. Meanwhile, Esmeralda's son is sick. Rita thinks he is going to die, but Esmeralda rushes him to the hospital.

Episode 18: Esmeralda doesn't have money to buy her son medicine or milk, and she doesn't know where she'll get it. Lorenza forbids Pablo from returning to find Esmeralda. All Pablo wants is answers. He feels lied to and tricked. Esmeralda thinks about marrying Domenico for her children. Lorenza thinks about faking a marriage document between Monica and Pablo, and Pablo makes his return to Mexico. Esmeralda goes to look for Domenico and tells him that she will marry him. He tells her that he loves her.

Episode 19: Mariano confesses to Pablo that their parents annulled his marriage to Esmeralda. Damian, who has gotten Esmeralda away from Domenico, lets her stay in his house. Damian tells Esmeralda that he will help her with money, so that her children are provided for. Rita is not happy that Esmeralda has left, so she looks for Domenico and asks if he wants to get back at Esmeralda for what she's done to him. El Silencioso has started to gather evidence against Agustin. And when Pablo goes to look for Esmeralda, Domenico pretends to be her husband.

Episode 20: Esmeralda is willing to get back at Pablo for all the hurt he caused her. And she starts to change. She tells El Silencioso that she wants Pablo to suffer like she has suffered. If people want her to be bad, then she will be bad. She's going to become a cat, and she will bring out the claws against anyone who has hurt her. Esmeralda and Pablo have a confrontation.
