'Mission Impossible 5': What Do We Know So Far About MI:5?
"Mission: Impossible" returns with a reunion of sorts: Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames.
"Mission: Impossible 5" has brought Cruise and Rhames back together again. For the spy pair, it has been almost two decades since they first worked together in the "Mission Impossible" franchise.
The "Mission: Impossible" duo worked on the first installment back in 1996, then on "Mission: Impossible 2" in 2000. Then they teamed up again in "Mission: Impossible III" in 2006. Rhames did not appear in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" (2011) until the end of the film.
Jeremy Renner, who worked with Cruise on "Mission: Impossible- Ghost Protocol," revealed this week via Facebook who will be back in the latest "Mission: Impossible" installment.
There are four things that we know so far about "Mission: Impossible 5" -- "MI-5" -- from who are the other actors working on this project, when the film is scheduled to come out, to the locations of where they will be filming.
1: Who Is in "MI-5" ?
Besides the confirmation of Cruise, Rhames and Renner on the MI-5 project, Simon Pegg is back as Benji Dunn. Pegg was in the last two "Mission: Impossible" films in 2006 and 2011. Also Rebecca Ferguson ("Hercules," "The White Queen") is also confirmed to be the leading lady in this film.
Ferguson, a Swedish up and coming actress, received a Golden Globe nomination for "The White Queen," Deadline reported. Also coming into the cast is Alec Baldwin ("The Hunt for Red October," "30 Rock"). Baldwin is expected to be playing the new head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Sean Harris from "Prometheus" is also expected to be playing the resident villain in the film, Fashion Style reported. As of the writing of this article, Harris is still in negotiations. Paula Patton is only rumored to return.
2: Who Is Directing?
The director on this project will not be J.J. Abrams this time, but he will be producing under his Bad Robot Productions. Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions will be helming this project. Chris McQuarrie, who has worked with Cruise on "Valkyrie," "Jack Reacher" and "Edge of Tomorrow," will be directing, Deadline reported.
McQuarrie is excited about the film; he tweeted his elation saying: "@chrismcquarrie The team is back. @Renner4Real @TomCruise @simonpegg #VingRhames #MI5Diary," Cinema Blend reported.
3: Where Will "MI-5" Be Filming?
Since mid-August, they have been shooting in Vienna, Austria, and in Morocco at the Marrakech Stadium, Fashion Style reported. Last month, Pegg divulged that, once those locations were completed, they would be filming near his hometown in Leavesden, north of London.
"It's a nice one for me, to be near home," Pegg said about working in Leavesden.
There have also been rumors that they will be filming within the House of Parliament, Fashion Style reported. If they were to do so, it would be a first for any film. Pegg cannot confirm anything like that is taking place.
"But we are shooting in London, so it would make sense, if they were looking to film in places like that, that it would be the case. I don't know for definite, but I do know that we are shooting on location in London, so that should be the case. Which would be great," Pegg said, Fashion Style reported.
4: When Will "Mission: Impossible 5" Be Coming to Theaters?
We will have to wait until Dec. 25 2015.
