The big news going into Night of Champions is that Roman Reigns is out of action and will not be competing against former Shield stablemate Seth Rollins after undergoing emergency surgery over the weekend. Reigns was sent to the hospital after he was complaining of severe stomach pains and was diagnosed with an incarcerated hernia.

"He was found to have a large hernia that was unable to be reduced, which means pushed back into the abdominal cavity," said WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann to WWE.com. "At the time of the surgery, surgeons found a loop of small intestine was caught in the hernia sac, which would account for the pain and discomfort that Roman was having earlier in the evening."

The timetable for Reigns return is uncertain. While WWE officials are hopeful he can return in 4-6 weeks, three months is the more likely prognosis of how long he will be out of action. This is a huge blow for the WWE's title plans with Reigns now joining Daniel Bryan on the sidelines for an extended time due to injury.

With Reigns out, no one is sure what the plans are for Seth Rollins going into Night of Champions. Dean Amrose, who was out of action so he could film "Lockdown" and was set to return this Monday and continue his feud against Rollins, is a possibility to fill in for Reigns Sunday night. Ambrose was last seen getting Curb Stomped into cinder blocks but had "disappeared" before he could be treated by physicians.

In other Night of Champions news, Adam Rose may be in action during the Night of Champions Pre-Show in a tag team match against Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil, with The Bunny as Rose's tag team partner. The Bunny has been very proactive in Rose's feud against Slater and O'Neil the last couple of weeks, with Sami Zayn and Justin Gabriel having donned the bunny suit at various times. Neither, however, is expected to be the true culprit under the mask that has been tormenting the duo of Slater and O'Neil.

As far as post-Night of Champions plans, John Cena may be getting set to feud with Rusov after their respective feuds have been put to bed during Sunday's event. Wrestlezone.com is reporting that while Cena may take a long-needed break after his bout with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, Rusev may be built up as a major foreign heel to put up against the former champion. Rusev has already been put over by Jack Swagger and may likely defeat Mark Henry at Night of Champions to further expand his push.

In other news, Cody Rhodes, aka Stardust, recently hinted he and his brother Goldust may be getting set for a feud against former NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension in a recent interview with CBS News in Washington, D.C. The Ascension were the longest running champions for any division in the development wing of the company and have recently gotten the call-up to the main roster having recently made their debut on WWE Main Event against Los Matadores.

Tyle Breeze is believed to also be getting a call-up to the main roster as well, in the near future, and may be used in a stable with The Miz and his stunt-double Damien Sandow, aka Damien Miz-dow, as part of The Miz's Hollywood entourage.

NXT members have been traveling and competing on main roster shows since Takeover: Fatal 4-Fourway, including Zayn, Breeze, Tyson Kidd and NXT Champion Adrian Neville, as the WWE continues to showcase their future talent.
