Marvel Avengers 2 'Age of Ultron' Spoilers, Characters & Cast News: Will One of 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes' Be Killed Off?
There have been several theories swirling around Comic-Con 2014 and beyond regarding a possible Marvel character death in the highly-anticipated "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron."
When screenwriter Joss Whedon was asked about what fans should expect from "The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron," he reportedly replied: "Death, Death and Death."
While his comments weren't taken completely seriously, there is some speculation that there may be some truth to Whedon's response. Could this mean lights out for one of the Avengers?
"Occasionally, Marvel likes to tease fans with props from their upcoming movies, and Comic Con 2014 saw the display of Captain America's shield. There is nothing ominous about that, were it not for one key factor -- the near indestructible shield was broken, cracked into pieces," MoviePilot points out.
Is this a hint that Captain America will be "the fallen hero?" Maybe not.
"There is another explanation. Captain America, in the comics, has had a replacement shield -- and the second is given to him by Black Pather, who makes the protective weapon from the precious mineral Vibranium. Could Marvel have been teasing Black Panther, rather than hinting at Captain America's demise?" added MoviePilot, who analyzed a few other potential outcomes.
Actor James Spader, who plays the eight-foot Ultron, commented on the usual nature of Comic-Con," saying it's "the most insane ... have any of you ever been to Comic-Con?" he asked the audience on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. "Oh, my god, you brave, brave souls. It is crazy. I mean life really can't get strange enough for me, but I mean it's the craziest place I have ever been," he told Jimmy Fallon.
Recently, Marvel Studios sent out its first official synopsis of the film, which will be released in 2015.
"Marvel Studios presents 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jump start a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance," according to the official release.
"As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure."
