Raiden is coming back and Mortal Kombat fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the iconic character from the original Mortal Kombat games will be returning to Mortal Kombat X.

Raiden's return to Mortal Kombat is a good sign for fans of the game. Raiden, like Goro, will get a character refresh, but fans of the old Mortal Kombat will instantly recognize him.

Other Characters? Two new characters seem to have leaked into the demo for Mortal Kombat X. They are Ermac and Smoke. Smoke seems like a more concrete possibility to make it into the game because the character popped up while IGN was playing the demo. Here is how the Christian Post reported it:

"Smoke on the other hand is allegedly seen on Kotal Khan's Sun God fighting style tab at the IGN demo of the game. It would look as if Kotal Khan is holding up some grey ninja, ready to beat him to a pulp. Unless it's just some random grey placeholder to show off Kotal Khan's skills, it could quite possibly be indeed Smoke."

We will see if either of these characters makes it into the game. If they end up getting passed on, they might become available as downloadable content (DLC) in the future.

Plenty of Time Yet: We are still a long way away from Mortal Kombat X. The game comes out April 15, 2015, so more character rumors and reveals are sure to come about in the next few months. Hopefully, the classic characters from the old Mortal Kombat games return, but still the game needs to stay fresh and new characters and new abilities is the way it does that.

Which characters do you want to see in the new Mortal Kombat X game? Do you prefer new characters or would you rather have the classic characters from the 1990s make a return into the game?
