Anderson Silva is still struggling to trust his surgically repaired leg, but Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission medical director Dr. Marcio Tannure believes that the Ultimate Fighting Championship star will be 100 percent again soon.

Tannure said in an interview with Sherdog that the Brazilian MMA star Silva, who broke his leg during his rematch with Chris Weidman in December last year, is in good condition at this point of his recovery.

"Anderson is in good condition. Actually, Anderson is a personal friend of mine. I was with him when he got hurt in the fight against Weidman, and I followed him through his impressive recovery," Tannure said.

Tannure is aware, however, that the psychological part of the recovery is more difficult, but he has no doubt that Silva will eventually learn how to trust his legs again.

"Obviously, a fracture like that brings a psychological problem, and only a training routine will make him comfortable again," Tannure said. "But he is an amazing athlete and by the way he is training, I believe soon he will be 100 percent again."

Silva said in an interview with MMA Fighting earlier this month that he is still haunted by the ghost of the horrific incident, admitting that he has worked with a psychologist to regain his confidence back.

"I've worked with a psychologist so I can get rid of the ghosts of those horrible moments of that fight, when I had that accident," Silva said. "I'm a little apprehensive in training. I know I can execute the movement, but I end up not doing it for fear. Yeah, I won't get hurt. I know I won't get hurt, but fear is natural."

Silva, the former UFC middleweight champion, will return to the Octagon against Nick Diaz at UFC 181 on Jan. 31.

The Silva-Diaz showdown is reportedly in jeopardy after Diaz was arrested for driving under influence of alcohol, but UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta said that it won't affect the UFC 181 main event.

"We're going to find out more when he has his court date. I don't necessarily think, and this is me personally, the charges would prevent the fight from happening. I've never seen a situation where a commission didn't license someone to fight because of a DUI," Fertitta said via ESPN.
