Carrie Underwood: Singer Talks ‘Weird’ Pregnancy and New ‘Greatest Hits’ Album
During a sit down interview with NBC's "Today" show on Friday morning, country singer, Carrie Underwood opened up about her greatest hits album and her pregnancy that she describes as being "weird."
"It's still kind of weird, to be honest," she said about her newly announced pregnancy. "Sometimes I'll be with my husband and I'm like, 'I'm going to be a mom. You're going to be a dad. Like, is this real life?' But we're really excited."
Underwood first announced her pregnancy to the world on Labor Day via Twitter, Today reports.
"In honor of "Labor" Day ... Ace & Penny would like to make an announcement. Their parents couldn't be happier!," she captioned a Twitter photo of herself and her two dogs sporting T-shirts that included the phrases "I'm going to be a big brother" and "I'm going to be a big sister."
Since announcing the news of her pregnancy a few weeks prior to now, Underwood is already thinking about the kind of mother she wishes to be.
"I have a wonderful mother, so if I can be even a little bit like that, I think we'll be good," she said on "Today."
In addition to planning for motherhood, Underwood has also been planning for her upcoming "Greatest Hits" album that is scheduled for release on Dec. 9, Rolling Stone reports.
In a statement obtained by Rolling Stone, Underwood explains that her "Greatest Hits" album will be a compilation of her hit songs from the past decade and will include additional new songs for her fans to enjoy.
"I can't believe it's been a decade since I auditioned for American Idol," she says in the statement. "Looking back at the songs I've released over the years lets me relive my amazing journey. Even better I get to include new music for the fans!"
Underwood's first single off her upcoming "Greatest Hits: Decade 1" album is "Something in the Water" which she described as "joyous" during her "Today" interview.

"It's really kind of a joyous, uplifting song about changing your life for the better and kind of having that 'a-ha' moment, to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward," she said.
