Joaquin Castro on Board, Twin Brother Julián Keeping Quiet About Hillary Clinton Running for President in 2016
Joaquin Castro may be boasting his support for a 2016 presidential run by Hillary Clinton, but his twin brother Julián is staying mum on the subject.
On Monday, Ready for Hillary sent out an endorsement for Clinton written by Joaquin, a fellow Democrat.
"There's no doubt about it: Hillary is the best person to be our 45th president," Texas Rep. Joaquin said in the email according to Politico. "Hillary has always been a tireless advocate for working families -- she's never ceased to make sure everybody has a fair shot at achieving the American Dream. Hillary's the leader I want to see moving into the White House in two years."
Clinton has not officially announced whether or not she will run for the Democratic Party nomination for a second time in 2016.
"You and I both know Hillary would do amazing things as U.S. President -- but it's up to us to make these early moments count," Joaquin's email continues.
Joaquin's brother Julián, who has been named as a potential vice president nominee in the upcoming election, had much less to say on the subject.
The secretary of Housing and Urban Development was very quiet when asked how he felt about Clinton in a Tuesday interview with Dallas News.
"You should talk to Joaquin about that," Julián said. "In this position, I'm staying out of politics."
In August, Clinton and her husband, Former President Bill Clinton, had Secretary Castro over for dinner, causing some to some suspect that the dinner was to discuss him becoming Clinton's running mate.
"Not at all," he said. "We had a good conversation about how HUD can work on energy efficiency perhaps with the Clinton Foundation, which we said at the time."
Julián reportedly didn't want to share his opinion on any upcoming elections.
"In this position I'm focused on my work here at HUD," he said. "I'm staying out of politics."
