Leonardo DiCaprio Turns Down Steve Jobs Biopic Role
Leonardo DiCaprio will not be playing Steve Jobs on the big screen.
The actor was being considered to play the Apple co-founder, but he decided to drop out to focus on Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu's "The Revenant," notes Rolling Stones.
DiCaprio plans to take a break from acting after shooting "The Revenant." The movie is supposed to be released in 2015.
The Steve Jobs biopic is going to be directed by Danny Boyle, and the script is written by Aaron Sorkin. It is based off of Walter Issacson's book "Steve Jobs."
David Fincher was tied to the movie at first, but it seems he wasn't happy with the pay or creative control.
Ashton Kutcher previously played Steve Jobs in 2013, but the movie wasn't well received.
The men who are being considered for the role of Jobs are Christian Bale, Matt Damon, Bradley Cooper and Ben Affleck.
The Hollywood Reporter believes that Affleck is a long stretch as he just signed on to "The Accountant."
Kate Winslet recently opened up about her friendship with DiCaprio. She explained that though both are turning 40 soon, they wouldn't have a joint party.
She also spoke about how there has never been any romance between the two.
"I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing," she said. "It's so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually we never did."
Instead, Winslet said, DiCaprio saw her more as one of the guys.
And it was their busy schedules that made it easier for the two to bond.
"We needed each other to lean on because we were very young and working all kinds of crazy bloody hours and it was a shock to the system," she said.
