Miss USA Nia Sanchez Engaged to Actor Daniel Booko
Nia Sanchez and boyfriend Daniel Booko got engaged this past weekend.
The Miss USA beauty queen and Booko shared the news on Twitter.
Booko said, "We're engaged!! Ahhhh! Can't wait to spend forever with my love and best friend realniasanchez..."
He also linked to an Instagram picture of the two kissing, which Sanchez also did.
Booko has been retweeting kind messages from other people.
In June, Sanchez explained that she and Booko had been dating for about a year.
The couple was surrounded by friends and loved ones during the proposal. Raquel Dorsey, who is a former Miss California beauty queen, also shared a few pictures of the proposal.
She said, "I love this sweet girl so much! It was an honor to witness her magical proposal. @danielbooko did an exceptional job including us on the surprise engagement!"
She was surrounded by other friends, and they even had a "girls trip" in New York, where Sanchez and friends had a picnic in Central Park.
In March, marriage was not on Sanchez's mind.
"We're not thinking about getting married for a while, not anytime within the next year,' for sure," she said. "Eventually, I would love to, but we have to wait until after the pageants. Poor guy! He keeps getting pushed back when he thinks it's going to happen. At first he thought it was going to happen this year, and then I won Miss Nevada. So he said, 'Okay, I'll have to wait a year,' and I said, 'Well, what if I win Miss USA?' He's like 'Alright, I guess we'll have to wait even longer.'"
Booko and Sanchez first met a year and a half ago, but they didn't start dating until three months after that.
Booko secretly went to New York City, and he said that Sanchez thought that she was just going to have some time with her friends.
"I will be there looking all dapper in a suit decorated with candles and flowers and the whole thing and have her come over -- just her and I to have an intimate moment -- then get down on one knee and propose, then pop champagne and celebrate," he said.
