The Houston Rockets failed to land another superstar this offseason, but reports indicated that the team will make a strong push to acquire another big-name free agent, including Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant.

Marc Stein of ESPN reported that the Rockets will chase stars again next summer when players like Rajon Rondo and Goran Dragic hit free agency, but they are more focused on making a big splash in the summer of 2016.

Sources said that the Rockets will try to convince Durant to move to Houston in 2016, using James Harden as their lead recruiter. Team executives are reportedly convinced that Harden would play a big role, knowing that their superstar guard developed strong relationship with Durant during their time in Oklahoma City.

Durant, averaged a career-high 32.0 points to go along with 7.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists last season en route to winning his first Most Valuable Player award, will be the most coveted free agent in 2016.

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James will also hit free agency again in 2016, but the four-time MVP made it no secret that he will finish his career with the Cavs.

Several teams are expected to make a strong bid to Durant, considering the fact that the salary cap for the 2016-17 NBA season is expected to increase significantly because of NBA's new television deal with ESPN and TNT.

The Rockets will be among the aggressive suitors of Durant as general manager Daryl Morey said that they will continue "swinging big" despite failing to land a superstar this offseason. The Rockets looked poise to sign Chris Bosh to a max deal before the All-Star power forward decided to remain with the Miami Heat.

"We're only about trying to win championships and how to make that happen." Morey said. "We take big swings at things. Obviously, it worked out the last two summers, but the only way you can land a James Harden or a Dwight Howard is by taking big swings. Sometimes, you hit. Sometimes, you miss. Bosh chose to stay in Miami, but that's not always going to be the case."
