The PGA of America announced that their current system will be overhauled after United States took their third straight loss against Europe in the 2014 Ryder Cup, and golf superstar Tiger Woods will likely play a big role.

PGA president Ted Bishop said in an interview with Golf Channel that they are planning to create a "Ryder Cup Task Force" that will revise the current system in selecting team captains and team members along with the way the team will prepare for the biennial tournament.

"Basically we are giving the task force a blank canvas on all things on the Ryder Cup to give the PGA some input," Bishop said. "The PGA is willing to take a step back and listen to some people that are involved in the process."

Bishop said that the task force will be composed of 10 to 12 members who previously played and captained a team in the Ryder Cup. Sources indicated that Woods will be included in the task force along with Phil Mickelson, Davis Love III and 2008 Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger.

The move also means that the PGA of America will not name a captain this year as opposed to the earlier plan that the team captain will be named in November.

"There will be no captain announced in 2014," Bishop revealed. "I don't know what the timeframe would be but we are in no hurry to make that decision. We want to give the task force a chance to weigh in on a lot of things. We don't even have a short list of candidates. That discussion hasn't been started."

Mickelson blasted 2014 Ryder Cup team captain Tom Watson for his strategy this year, while also questioning why the team strayed from the system used by Azinger when they won the event in the 2008.

Azinger will reportedly be considered to captain the team in 2016. The former captain recently said that he is not ruling out a return, but he insisted that the whole system should be revisited and they should learn from Europe's philosophy.

"I'm not going to rule anything out," Azinger said via ESPN. "But my goal is the bigger picture. It is time for the PGA of America to recognize the great disconnect and formulate the same business model for selecting a captain as it does for selecting its president and officers. Europe consistently repeats a philosophy of leadership that every captain has learned from the captains in the past."
