"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star NeNe Leakes is reportedly the highest paid reality TV star, earning $1.5 million per season, RadarOnline reports.

Leakes' popularity on the hit Bravo series, along with her other television and stage engagements outside of the show, has given her the opportunity to get a huge pay raise from Bravo, an RO source claims.

The RO insider also adds that Leaks' popular presence on the show has allowed the "RHOA" franchise to maintain its high TV ratings in comparison to "other shows including 'RHONJ' and 'RHONY'" that "have endured ratings slumps."

"NeNe made it known she would need a significant raise to do the upcoming season, and Bravo had no choice but to agree to it," the source continues.

Prior to receiving her million dollar pay raise from Bravo, Leakes made it no secret that she disliked the "very negative and very draining" aspects of being a reality-TV star, E! News reports.

Leakes was also very vocal about not liking the amount she was getting paid to be a "RHOA" cast member, says RadarOnline.

During her appearance on "The Arsenio Hall Show," back in April, Leakes admitted to contemplating leaving the show almost "every season."

However, she did acknowledge that the show -- which she described as draining -- has also opened many doors for her to pursue her acting career and capitalize in other business ventures.

"For me, it's like a blessing and a curse. It has definitely opened up so many doors and opportunities for me," Leakes explained. "I have been able to do some of everything just from being on this platform. But at the same time, it can be very negative and very draining and all of things."

One particularly "draining" aspect of the show was the amount she was getting paid at the time.

While speaking with Arsenio Hall, Leakes said that her pay was "ok" but "not worth" all of the drama that has erupted throughout the many seasons of the "RHOA" franchise.
