'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Episode 2 Spoilers: Will Alaric Erase Damon From Elena's Memory? [Videos]
Season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" kicked off in full swing on Oct. 2 as Damon and Bonnie appeared to be lost in God knows where and Elena went to the extreme to cope with the loss of her lover.
Not only did Elena turn to drastic measures by taking herbs that caused her to have hallucinations of Damon, but she decided to compel Alaric to help her forget that Damon ever existed.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Nina Dobrev admitted that erasing Damon from memory is a "little bit of a rash decision that [Elena] will regret." She added, "but I also think that she has been thinking about it and has decided this is the only solution."
Meanwhile, Elena's request will also take a toll on Alaric, warned executive producer Caroline Dries.
"Damon is his friend too and so, for her, it's a hard decision, but for him, it's also like, 'I don't know if I can do this to my friend.' So that will be the emotional journey in the next episode," she told EW.
In the meantime, Dries teased that Ivy will stick around and help Stefan reveal a side of himself that fans have never seen.
"We get to learn what his process is as a vampire of starting over and living a different identity. We've only seen him as Stefan Salvatore, high school student turned Elena's boyfriend. So we get to see Stefan Salvatore, guy who works at a mechanic in Savannah. So that will open us to a new world for a little while," said Dries.
Although it looks like Stefan gave up on finding his brother, Enzo will return in the next episode determined to find his best friend, Dries said.
"We've really only seen Enzo in the context of Damon. Damon is his best friend. He's like Damon's soulmate, and so Damon dying obviously took a toll on Enzo. We saw Stefan kind of having given up, and so Enzo is going to turn out to have had a different reaction to Damon's death. He's not going to give up on him. So his point of view on Damon is in direct conflict with Stefan's."
In order to find his BFF, Enzo will convince Caroline to take a road trip that will hopefully lead to a clue on how they can get Damon.
A teaser video shows Enzo flirting with the blonde vampire during their trip and offering her some "feminist tips."
"He is up to something that is on point with what's going on with the Damon and Stefan story," said Dries about Enzo, adding that he will have a "different reaction to Damon's death" than Stefan, according to E! News.
Fortunately, the EP hinted that Damon and Bonnie's whereabouts will be revealed in episode two, which is titled "Yellow Ledbetter." From the looks of the promo video, it appears that "Bamon" are stuck in the 90's, reliving May 10, 1994 over and over again, notes WetPaint.
The CW released the official synopsis for "Yellow Ledbetter," which according to Dread Central, states:
"Knowing she needs to come to terms with the loss of Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev) turns to Alaric (Matt Davis) to help her move on with her life. Enzo (Michael Malarkey) convinces Caroline (Candice Accola) to join him as he tracks down a lead to get Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham) back, but Caroline is shocked when they make an unexpected detour and uncover what Stefan (Paul Wesley) has been up to. Meanwhile, Matt (Zach Roerig) worries about Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) who is spending time with Sarah (guest star Gabrielle Walsh), a mysterious girl who has recently arrived in Mystic Falls. Elsewhere, Tripp (guest star Colin Ferguson), leader of the community protection program, makes an interesting confession to Matt about his connection to the town. Lastly, with the Other Side destroyed and gone for good, Damon and Bonnie reluctantly band together to uncover the mystery of where they are and how they are going to get back home."
Season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" will return to The CW on Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. EST.
