Cristina Saralegui Returns to Univision; Opens Up About Arrogance, Alcoholism
Cristina Saralegui has been off Univision since 2010, but she will be making her return on Monday, Oct. 13.
Saralegui will be on "Despierta America," where she will talk about the end of her show and the problems she faced, notes Univision.
When her show was canceled after 21 years, Saralegui said she felt small.
"How did I feel?" she said. "The size of an ant, and well, maybe God sent that to me so that I could learn to be less arrogant."
She did stand up for her show, saying that people accused her of having fake guests on the show. But she said that all of those problems and those personalities were real. She said that today there are plenty of fake people on TV, but it was not like that on her show.
Saralegui also opened up about her problems with alcohol.
"When my husband said, 'you're very annoying,' and I said, it's true. I'm a bad drunk. I can't keep going like this. And for him and for my children, I decided to stop."
Saralegui has also dedicated herself to writing, and her book, "Pa'rriba y Pa'lante, Mis Secretos Para Triunfar en tu Carrera, Tu Relación y tu Vida," is now available online but will be released in stores on Oct. 28.
It will be available in English and Spanish.
The name of the book invokes one of the phrases that she used on her talk show, which she said she used to encourage people not to be defeated by the obstacles they face in life.
It was inspirational to people, as many repeated it to her when they saw her on the street.
She also explained that receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was the high point of her career, and that her show being canceled was the low point.
"That was one of the hardest blows, and one of the lessons that I share in the book. "Life will give us difficult moments. It doesn't matter who we are or where we come from, but the important thing is to keep fighting, to not let yourself be defeated. Onward and upward."
