'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Release News: Spider-Man to Feature, Are Sony and Marvel Studios Finally Teaming Up?
The rumors continue to circle the media regarding the collaboration of Spider-Man in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron." Though this isn't the first time we hear about Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios deciding to collaborate, it is the first time the world has received some kind of response.
It would only make sense for all superheroes to unite, especially if they all reside in New York City. But due to the legalities of Sony Pictures owning the Spider-Man name and Marvel Studios owning The Avengers, it has never happened. However, there is always hope. One time there was even a rumored plan of the Oscorp Tower (from Spider-Man films) appearing in the first Avengers movie. Though this "plan" fell through Entertainment Weekly has provide new hope for all superhero fans.
According to an Entertainment Weekly report Spider-Man will not be appearing in any Avengers films in the near future. However, according to their sources there is a possibility that he will appear on a film down the road.
Sony Pictures is currently working on their next film "Sinister Six," where Spider-Man will obviously appear. The assumptions are that if for whatever reason the movie flops, they will consider making a deal with Marvel Studios to use Spider-Man. "Sinister Six" is written and directed by Drew Goddard, making the film house very confident in their product.
It's all about the rights Sony will allow Marvel Studios. As long as Marvel doesn't attempt to make a Spider-Man stand-alone film, wouldn't everything be in place for Sony? Entertainment Weekly predicts that if a collaboration does finally occur, it won't be until at least 2020.
What do you think? Will Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures finally work together? Do you think it's all about money? Who's you favorite Marvel character? Sony character?
