BBC 'Sherlock' Season 4 Air Date & Premiere: Special and Three More Episodes Announced
BBC has just announced a tentative release date for "Sherlock" Season 4. According to the network, the latest season will premiere in 2016. That is the only release date that has been given. The day and month have yet to be confirmed. Together with this announcement is the confirmation of one episode, which will air prior to the show's fourth season.
And while the fourth season is still several months away, there is much speculation for this forthcoming season. Steven Moffat said in an earlier interview that the show is planning to top Season 3 and that the plan they have will be devastating, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Some may speculate that it looks like they are hinting at the death of a major character. Latin Times did their own deductive reasoning and came up with the conclusion that it could be Mrs. Hudson or a member of the Sherlock family who is lost, greatly affecting Sherlock and therefore impacting on the viewers.
Moffat teased that there will be unexpected events taking place for Sherlock and John and that the show will get darker. While there are hints that Moriarty will make a comeback, Moffat was resolute when he said that Moriarty was dead because the guy shot himself in the face in Season 3. Still, there are conflicting stories about Moriarty, although Sherlock is the only person who knows what happened to the character. Either that or Moffat was just trying to mislead the fans to add to the mystery surrounding Season 4.
It is also said Watson will become a father in Season 4, since Mary Morstan married Watson and got pregnant in Season 3. It will be an interesting setup. When asked what kind of parents John and Mary will be, actress Amanda Abbington, who plays Mary, said in an interview with Vulture that they would be reckless parents because both of them are psychopaths.
