Showtime has recently announced that "Shameless" Season 5 will be returning to TV screens. Jan. 11, 2015, is the confirmed debut date for Season 5, so fans now have a date to look forward to with the Gallagher family, Hollywood News Daily reports.

The debut of the new season is timed just right because when all the activities connected with the holiday season are tapering down, viewers will have the time to relax and sit back by the fire while enjoying one of their favorite cable TV shows.

"Shameless" Season 5 will still show the dysfunctional Gallagher family. William H. Macy will be back to reprise his role as the alcoholic father. Fiona, played by Emmy Rossum, will also be back. Guest stars for the new season include Sasha Alexander, Steve Kazee and Dermot Mulroney.

The show will pick up where it left off in Season 4. In Season 5, Fiona will have an identity crisis, and Frank will be back on the bottle. The other kids will be stumbling around as they struggle to raise themselves amid their screwed up family environment. It is expected that there will be high drama with the return of Jimmy/Steve, now called Jack, especially in how it will impact on Fiona's psyche while she finds a new love interest (the character that will be portrayed by Steve Kazee). She's also rumored to be the love interest if the character to be played by Axle Whitehead.

Sean Pierce (Dermot Mulroney), a recovering addict, will be the new manager of Patsy's Pies and the new boss of Fiona. While their relationship will be that of boss and employee initially, it may eventually turn into a flirtatious relationship sometime during the season's run.

"Shameless" Season 5 is slated to have 12 episodes.
