Cops Make Arrest on Clowns Walking Around California Towns With Baseball Bats, Machetes [Pics]
Clowns have begun marauding around California towns at night, scaring residents and putting local police on edge. The creepy clowns have been seen around the towns of Wasco and Bakersfield walking around at night and posting photos on social media.
The first clown began appearing in Wasco, California, almost a week ago, according to WTSP 10 News. Though the clown has not committed any criminal acts, the reason behind a random scary clown walking around town remains a mystery.
An Instagram account named wascoclown has been posting pictures of the same clown in different parts of Wasco.
The Wasco Clown has also been on Twitter since Oct. 7 taunting people, using the handle @ClownWasco. But, this is not some madman terrorizing a town: It is a husband and wife photography project.
This is not the only clown tormenting Californian towns.
According to KMPH, there are copycat clowns terrorizing the town of Bakersfield. The clowns have been seen walking around carrying baseball bats and machetes but have not violently attacked anyone.
Nonetheless, a 14-year-old, clown was arrested after he chased down other teenagers. Though the perpetrator was not armed, one of the minors was left "visibly shaken," according to police.
"The officers who wrote the report indicate that the child was pretty shaken up. He was pretty scared by this. We've had reports also of these clowns associated or swaying machetes, baseball bats, those types of things. So depending on the circumstances it can be frightening and depending on who the victim is that's being chased. It can be frightening, " police Sgt. Joe Grubbs said.
The teenager was charged with annoying a minor and was sent to juvenile hall.
"We will make arrests on this," Grubbs said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "We want this to stop."
