The "Desperate Housewives" star and executive producer of "Devious Maids," Eva Longoria, is about to embark on a scary TV series with NBC. Could Longoria's scary TV series be like a Latin American version of "American Horror Story?" The chances are slim but viewers would not mind another scary TV series. This one is based on Latin American folklore.

This would make the second executive produced TV series that Longoria has gotten with network TV. Revealed last week, the newest TV series that she is about to embark on has Longoria working with an NBC heavyweight. While the series does not have a title as yet, the first story that her show will get into has already been explored on other network shows.

Longoria's scary TV series has been described as a supernatural thriller with a realistic tone. This anthology series is inspired by the rich world of Hispanic folklore and myth, Deadline reported. Each season is expected to explore a different legend, but it will be set in the present-day Southwest.

The first season will be based on the ancient Hispanic tale of "La Llorona," the "weeping woman." Unfortunately it has been explored on other network shows. The "weeping woman" tale was delved into on NBC's "Grimm" and The CW's "Supernatural," Deadline reported.

Longoria's La Llorona will follow a disturbed detective who is investigating a young mother accused of trying to drown her child. The small town in which the incident occurs is hiding a paranormal secret, Deadline reported.

In the legend, Maria is the name of the peasant woman who drowns her children in an attempt to be with the man that she loved. The man then rejects her, and as a result she drowns herself as well, the Huffington Post reported.

Maria cannot enter the afterlife, so she is left to search for her dead children for eternity. Maria then haunts and captures wandering children who look like her own that either misbehave or run away.

Longoria and her production company UnbelieEVAble Entertainment could venture into other Latin American legends, like "The Whistler" or even "El Sombrerón," The A.V. Club reported. "The Whistler" tells the tale of a patricidal music fan who carries around the bones of his dead father in a sack. "El Sombrerón" deals with a stalker who braids the hair of young women in such a way that makes them unable to eat or sleep.

Longoria is bringing the fire. Longoria's UnbelieEVAble Entertainment company will be working with Universal TV and the co-executive producer of NBC's "Chicago Fire" Andrea Newman. Newman and Longoria will be executive producing the series, Deadline reported. And Newman will be penning the script.

Longoria's other produced TV series will be based off of the twin politicians Joaquín and Julian Castro. Joaquín is the current senator of San Antonio, Texas, while his brother Julian is the current Mayor of San Antonio, Texas.

It has been reported that Longoria's produced TV show "Pair of Aces," coming on ABC, is loosely based off of the Castro brothers' lives. "Pair of Aces" is a political drama about two brothers Chris and Alex Reyes. They are considered Latino golden boys who are both rising stars in Texas politics. Their destiny has been controlled and manipulated by their mother Maria.
