Joanne Borgella, a contestant on Season 7 of "American Idol," died on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the age of 32 from what she once described as a "rare case" of endometrial cancer, TMZ reports.

Borgella was diagnosed with cancer a little over a year ago and described her cancer as rare because it eventually spread to her chest, Fox News reports. Enodmetrial cancer initially attacks the lining of the womb.

According to People, Borgella's posted her last cancer treatment update on Sept. 23.

The Facebook post read, "Gooooood morning!! We are heading back to radiation for 2 procedures!! God js with us!! I have lots to fill you in on.. The presence of The Lord is here.. Prayers up!!! I love you guys #GodsGotThis #ThePowerofPrayer #Faith #IWillbeCancerFree2014 #JoanneBorgella."

Following her death, Borgella's family took to Facebook to inform Borgella's fans of the tragic news.

"To God be the glory! With heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Joanne," Borgella's family wrote. "On Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at 5:45 a.m., Joanne Borgella Ramirez was called by the Lord to heaven."
