Playstation TV Release and Price: New Set Top Device Having Problems
Playstation TV debuted last week and has largely been a bust due to low storage space and connectivity issues.
The set top device costs $99 and it allows gamers to play a variety of Playstation games on a TV instead of their PS Vitas or PSPs. Gamers can also play Playstation 3 games by using Playstation 3.
However, the promises that Sony made have not exactly been kept. Many gamers and Playstation loyalists are having trouble connecting and quickly running out of storage space in the small playing card-sized device.
CNET.com tore into Playstation TV in their recent review:
"The Bottom Line: The PlayStation TV sounds great on paper, but out of the gate, it underwhelms as both a gaming and an entertainment box."
The technology website gave Playstation TV a 5.7 rating (out of 10).
The device looks great on paper. The specs are very impressive and so are the many things you can do with it, but it just is very buggy and has not been able to live up to its expectations.
IGN agreed that Playstation TV is not worth the investment of time or money.
"The PlayStation TV disappoints due to huge gaps in the game compatibility list and missing video apps, as well as poor PlayStation Now performance over Wi-Fi. Hopefully, Sony will improve the experience over time, but for now, it's difficult to offer a hearty recommendation."
Connectivity issue are the main concern. Unless a gamer has a secure and stabilized wired or wireless (WiFi) connection, it is highly likely that they will encounter problems with the Playstation TV.
For now, Playstation TV is not being recommended until the bugs are fixed.
