The NFL trade deadline is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. EST.

With less than a week remaining until the trade deadline, rumors are swirling around the league. Multiple big name players such as Vincent Jackson and LeSean McCoy have been in many trade rumors.

But one notable name who is gaining attention is Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

Cutler is an average quarterback who has played for the Bears over the last five and a half seasons. Since joining the Bears, Cutler has thrown 115 touchdowns and 82 interceptions with an 84.4 passer rating. During the 2010 season, Cutler led the Bears to a playoff victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

But it's probably time to break up this relationship. The experiment should be over.

Cutler has disappointed far more than he exceeded expectations with the Bears. Costly turnovers, bad passes and the inability to defeat the Green Bay Packers are Cutler's biggest flaws. Cutler is 1-10 all time in his career against Aaron Rodgers, a disturbing statistic that every Bears fan is aware of.

Still, Cutler is a good quarterback who can make the deep throws. Cutler is still just 31 years old and his completion percentage is improving. Maybe Cutler and the Bears just weren't meant for each other. What team has good offensive pieces, plays in the AFC, needs a quarterback and can afford to pickup Cutler's big contract?

Enter Houston Texans

Texans general manager Rick Smith needs to explore this option before the deadline expires. The Texans aren't an elite team, but they're still 3-4 competing in a weak AFC South division. Andre Johnson is one of the best wide receivers of the 21st century, and he won't be around forever. Running back Arian Foster is also off to a great start this season.

Current Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't the answer. Fitzpatrick has eight touchdowns and seven interceptions this year, and hasn't shown any signs of improvement. The former Harvard graduate is signed to a two-year contract, and would serve as a great backup quarterback to Cutler.

This would be a win-win situation for everyone involved for multiple reasons.

Cutler could get out of the cold weather conditions, which he struggles so much in. Playing in Houston would be a great change of scenery for him with a lot less pressure. The Texans would obviously be big beneficiaries because Cutler is an improvement over Fitzpatrick.

So why would the Bears do this? Simple. Cutler has been with the Bears since 2009, and they've only qualified for the postseason one time. If the Bears continue to keep losing with Cutler, they'll just be investing time and money into a losing effort. The Bears should get value now while they still can.

Trading Cutler to the Texans would also be beneficial because the Texans play in the AFC, an entirely different conference.

Cutler could be a great piece for the Texans and rejuvenate a flat offense. Even though he makes mistakes, he is considered a good quarterback in today's game. The Bears shouldn't be picky when it comes to dealing Cutler away. If they can even get a draft pick for him, take it. It's time for the Bears to rebuild, and trading away your pricey quarterback should be the first step.
