Christina Ricci will return to Lifetime as Lizzie Borden. The network announced that the limited series follow-up to the movie, "Lizzie Borden Took an Ax," will air on the network again.

The series is based on a real double murder trial that took place in 1983 against Lizzie Borden in Fall River, Massachusetts. Her life during the trial is replayed in the sequel series, "Lizzie Borden: The Fall River Chronicles."

Borden, in real life, was tried and acquitted for the axe murders of her father and stepmother. She stayed in Fall Rivers for the rest of her life after being released from prison. Over a century later, no one was charged with the double murder.

It is reported that the Bordens had a very religious upbringing.

The TV series turned leans more toward fiction, compared to the movie, which turned more to the history of the case. On the TV show, more people are murdered, and only one man, a detective played by Cole Hauser, is capable of finding out the truth.

The original movie premiered in January and drew 4.4 million viewers on its original broadcast.

Stephen Kay, who wrote the movie, will direct the first two episodes of the TV show.

"Lizzie Borden: The Fall River Chronicles" show was written by Greg Small & Rich Blaney, Barbara Nance, Jason Grote and David Simkins.

Other cast members include John Heard as Borden's father's business partner and Andrew Howard as Borden's half-brother, William.

Christina Ricci, an American actress born in California, gained recognition in a few movies. She played Wednesday Addams in the two "Adams Family" movies and Kat Harvey in the 1995 "Casper" movie. In 2006, she was nominated for an Emmy Award for her role as a paramedic in ABC's "Grey's Anatomy." She also starred in ABC's series "Pan Am."
