Assassin's Creed Unity Release Date: PC Specs More Powerful Than PS4 & Xbox One, Ubisoft Says
"Assassin's Creed Unity" was originally confirmed to be released on Oct. 28. However, it has been pushed back to Nov. 11.
The Gold Edition of the PC version will sell for $89.99 while the regular on will have a $59.99 price tag.
The specs for the PC version of "Assassin's Creed Unity" were released by Ubisoft on Thursday, and below are the full system requirements, according to company's official blog.
- Required operating system - 64-bit
- Supported OS - Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8 and 8.1
- Processor (minimum) - AMD Phenom II x4 940 @ 3.0 GHz or AMD FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHz or Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.3 GHz
- Minimum RAM - 6 GB; 8 GB (recommended)
- Video card (minimum) - AMD Radeon HD 7970 (2 GB VRAM) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680
- Video card (recommended) - AMD Radeon R9 290X (3 GB VRAM) or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780
- Direct X Version 11
- DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card with latest drivers
- 50 GB available hard drive space
- Windows compatible mouse and keyboard; game controller is optional
- 256 kbps or faster broadband connection
According to ExtremeTech, which analyzed the PC specs released by Ubisoft, the requirements are quite puzzling. They said that the minimum video card requirement alone would cost around $500 and the list of recommended specs are mostly top-of-the-line hardware, with the CPU requirements topping $1,000. They therefore surmised that the PC version of the game is quite a beefy one, as the requirements are twice as powerful as the GPU of a PS4 and three times as powerful as Xbox One's GPU.
Their conclusion is that the "Assassin's Creed Unity" PC version will be played at 1920 x 1080 at 60fps, compared to only 30fps for the PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version will have a higher resolution and therefore it needs double the processing power of the GPU and CPU. With these specs, it is expected that the PC version will have better AI, more mobs on-screen and better textures.
