According to sources, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan reshot scenes for the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie because the sex scenes between their two characters were not sexy.

Both Johnson and Dornan have been seen reshooting scenes from the movie adaptation of E.L. James' erotic novel this month, Us Weekly reports. A source told the tabloid that this was because the producers thought that the footage they had was not "passionate."

Another source said that Johnson failed to bring sex appeal to the screen.

"Dakota isn't coming off sexy enough," the anonymous source said. "[Anastasia Steele] needs to be naive, not a dishrag."

A third source said that getting the sex scenes right is imperative if there is to be sequels based off the other two books from James' trilogy, "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed."

"They want to do sequels, so this has to be perfect," the source said.

A rep for Universal Pictures has denied the claims.

"No one should question the heat or intensity of our actors," the rep said.

Recently, Dornan revealed one of his weaknesses.

"I'm not very good at auditions," he said, according to Daily Mirror. "I don't sell myself well. I didn't do a good audition for 'The Fall,' but the show's writer, Allan Cubitt, saw something in me. I think he had to work pretty hard to convince everyone else."

Still, the actor was never intimidated by filming S&M-themed sex scenes with Johnson.

"I'm not really fearful of that stuff," he said. "It's just work. It's strange work, sure, but it's still work. I just get on with it."

Dornan's father encouraged him to take the part of Christian Grey, an S&M-loving billionaire.

"[Dad] was all for it," Dornan said. "I don't come from a cagey family. We're fairly liberal."

"Fifty Shades of Grey" hits theaters Feb. 13, 2015.
