DMX On Dr. Phil Show: Rapper Has Therapy Session On the Air [VIDEO]
DMX appears on Dr. Phil's talk show, and opens up to Dr. Phil and the audience about his life journey of struggles.
During his sit-down, the New York rapper speaks about his troubled past, which he has been arrested more than 25 times, including charges of drug possession and animal cruelty, and how his criminal past affected his career: his driver's license and passport have been revoked due to his criminal record, which makes it so difficult for him to earn money because he's not able to drive to performances and tour overseas.
Inevitably, X has to deal with financial struggles and matter of fact, he has filed for bankruptcy in July and earlier this month - he first mentions that he has 11 children and one more on the way.
"They're well taken care of. I'm a big influence in their lives. I love all of my children. I do see them and speak to them when I can. I do have [a] relationship with my children. I love my children. I would never just not be a part of my children's lives. That doesn't make sense," DMX expresses his feelings of love and responsibility towards his kids.
The show's host continues by asking him if he is really more than $1 million behind in child support payments, and DMX responds,
"Yes, I am. The reason being because at a time I was making $13 million a year, so if I'm making $13 million a year, then I can pay that. I haven't made that in about 10 years, so of course I'm behind in payments, but the children are taken care of."
In addition, the "X Gon' Give It To Ya" rapper candidly talks about his long-term drug abuse problems and how his drug dependence has decreased by his relationship with God.
"I don't have to get high. I smoke weed. I drink, yes. But that's it. And one day, that'll be gone because my faith is in God, man, and He's not going to remove it all at once, but He's taking steps and I'm taking steps every day to get better and get where I need to be."
The rapper is doing better and he's happy about his choices that he made in the past. He says, "I wouldn't redo anything 'cause it got me right here where I'm at right now and I'm in a good place. No regrets." DMX is currently striving for better life; his brutal honesty in the show is much appreciated.
