Episode 6 of "Gotham," "Spirit of the Goat" told the decade-old story of murders that target the first-borns of the wealthy, but moreover it tells the origin story of corrupt cop Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), who was once a "white knight."

Since Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), a boy scout, first arrived to Gotham City, Bullock actively educated Gordon on the rules and methods of being a policeman in a lawless city and even coaxed him into killing Cobblepot to prove that he was "with the program." The jaded officer quickly teaches Gordon that the G.C.P.D. functions differently than other departments, but those teachings came from Bullock's former partner, Dix (Dan Hedaya), who frequently advised, "don't be a hero."

The Spirit of the Goat, a masked assailant who wields a hammer, kills the children of the privileged and deposits pennies behind their ear. And what seems like an isolated event to Gordon actually rehashes memories of a 10-year-old crime, which resulted in Bullock's partner being paralyzed after a run-in with the Goat.

When Bullock visits Dix in an adult assistance facility to discuss the case, it's revealed that Bullock pays for Dix's accommodation, and he sends the older man "awful" magazines that Dix enjoy during in his down time.

Through thorough investigation, Bullock solely discovers that a therapist, Dr. Marks (Susan Misner) has used her skills as a hypnotist to train mentally unstable patients to kill the offspring of one-percenters, who she believes ruin Gotham City with their self-interest and greed.

"Deep down, we all want to eat the rich, don't we?" Marks said to Bullock before she sent another patient to attack the deductive detective.

The final moments of the episode show Gordon and Bullock being arrested for the murder of Cobblepot. Then, Cobblepot enters, revealing that he's very much alive. This vindicates Gordon and enrages Bullock.

On tonight's episode "Gotham," titled "Penguin's Umbrella," DC Comics villain Victor Zsasz (Anthony Carrigan) appears, and he's looking for Gordon's blood following the discovery that Gordon didn't kill Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor).

"Penguin's Umbrella" will air on FOX at 8 p.m.
