It's like something that came out of a Bret Easton Ellis novel. Newser reports that Hong Kong police said they arrested a British man suspected of murdering two women in cold blood within his high-rise upscale apartment. In the course of investigation, officers discovered a nearly decapitated body stuffed inside a suitcase and left on the suspect's 31st floor balcony.

On Sunday, Nov. 1, around 3:42 a.m., the suspect made a report and requested officers to investigate his residence at the J Residence building on 60 Johnston Road in Wan Chai-Hong Kong's nightlife and red light district, according to the Hong Kong Police Force website.

According to The Mirror, the victims are said to have been prostitutes known to bar patrons in the area as "Jesse and Alice."

The body of Alice, which was discovered wrapped in a carpet in a suitcase on the balcony, has been identified as 25-year-old Sumarti Ningsih of Indonesia.

The second body was identified as 30-year-old Jesse Lorena from the Philippines. Lorena made an appearance at Wan Chai's Queen Victoria bar at about 8 p.m. on Oct. 31 and was last seen on her way to a Halloween party. According to The Telegraph, she worked as a disc jockey at a local pub part-time.

Both of the victims sustained neck injuries and body lacerations. According to Newser, police say they seized a knife at the suspect's apartment.

The Hong Kong Police Force website reports that "post-mortem examinations will be conducted" at a later date. Hong Kong authorities said they will also inspect the probability of other victims.

Over 2,000 photos were found on Jutting's smartphone; many of them are allegedly grisly pictures of the dead bodies, the The Mirror also reports. Cocaine and sex toys were also found in the apartment.

According to Bloomberg, the South China Morning Post identified the suspect as Rurik Jutting of Surrey, a 29-year-old privately educated Cambridge University graduate who studied history and law. A Winchester College alum, Jutting worked for Barclays between 2008 and 2010 in London before a short stint at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the U.S. and later transitioning to Hong Kong in 2013.

The Telegraph reports that according to a Facebook post on Jutting's profile page, he had recently ended a relationship with Yanie, an Asian woman with whom he lived at his last known address in East London's Wapping district.

According to BBC, Jutting resigned from his job a week prior. The auto-reply on his email stated that he would be out of the office "indefinitely" and suggests connecting with someone who is not "an insane psychopath," Newser reports.

"For escalation please contact God, though suspect the devil will have custody. [Last line only really worked if I had followed through..]," the response said.

It is unclear, however, whether or not Jutting penned the automated message himself.
