The impressive Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, 2014 Edition will be available in U.S. stores October 10, with pre-orders from customers being accepted starting September 27 midnight, according to NBC News.

The tablet will retail for $549 (16GB model), a tad more expensive than the Apple competition. However, techie fans will undoubtedly pay for the extra dollars, as the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 specs are quite impressive. The pen-enabled gadget comes in a smaller and lighter design with a textured and stitched back cover, 10-inch display that features high-resolution at 2560 x 1600 pixels, a quad-core Exynos processor for the intense multi-tasker and the Android OS version 4.3 "Jelly Bean." What sets apart the 10.1 apart however, is the S Pen, which boasts of new, innovative features, as reported by Droid Life.

Travis Merrill of Samsung Electronics America said in a statement that the new Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 was developed to deliver the ultimate tablet experience for Samsung customers.He said, "We continue to evolve the Galaxy Note experience with the new Note 10.1 - 2014 Edition, with premium software features and a sophisticated design, we're delivering an exceptional and even more engaging tablet experience," according to CBS News.

Tablet fans who will grab the gadget as soon as it lands the shelves will be getting prime features, including the 'Air Command' gesture for the S Pen, which is activated by pressing a button while hovering above the screen, giving the user instant access to several features on the tablet. The 'Action Memo' meanwhile, allows users to take notes and to do some other tasks at the same time, like find an address or telephone number. Other features include a Scrapbooking application, Screen Write and S Finder.

The Note 10.1 is developed for the serious multi-tasker. The improved Multi-Window feature allows users to run two applications side by side and to drag content from one window to the other. With the S Pen, the user may even open a third window and open an app on screen by simply drawing a shape on screen and selecting the app needed. The tablet also gives users quick access to connectivity. Its feature called 'My Magazine' allows the user to view news feeds and social media updates with a mere swipe of the S Pen or flick of a finger.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 also comes in 32 GB, and retails for $599.99.
