The Philadelphia Eagles will try to get their 2013-14 season campaign on track as they visit Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos on Sunday (4:25 p.m EST) at Sports Authority Field in Denver, Colorado.

After taking a bye in the fourth week, the Eagles will hit back on the playing field as they attempt to get their record even at .500. Philadelphia opened the season on a positive note with a 33-27 win over the Washington Redskins, but they dropped their last two games against the San Diego Chargers 33-30 and the Kansas City Chiefs 26-16.

Meanwhile, Denver has been on a roll early this season as vintage-form Manning powered the Broncos to a 3-0 record. After hammering the defending Super Bowl champs Baltimore Ravens 49-27 on opening day, the Broncos steamrolled to a 41-23 victory over the New York Giants and 37-21 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Numbers to Chime in

The Eagles are ranked 13th in the league in average passing yards per game (252.7 yards) while 1st in rushing yards per game (209). The combination of running back LaSean McCoy (395 yards on 62 attempts with two TDs) and quarterback Michael Vick (187 yards on 18 attempts with two TDs) has been prolific for the Eagles on the offensive end, but their defense has to step up this time around.

Philadelphia has one of the worst defenses in the NFL, allowing opponents to cover an average of 323 passing yards per game (29th) and 115.3 rushing yard per game (23rd).

If the Eagles don't bring a concrete defensive game plan this time around, the Broncos are expected to shred them to pieces with Manning running the show. The four-time NFL MVP has already covered 1143 yards with 12 TDs this season. His outstanding quarterbacking performance so far bodes well for the Broncos, who top the league in passing yards (374.7 yards) and 15th in rushing yards per game (112 yards).
