'Sin Censura' 2014: Lorena Herrera Says William Levy Used Mexico for Fame After Cuban Actor Backs Out of TV Show
William Levy was one of the men audiences expected to see taking it off on "Sin Censura." The Cuban actor had to drop out of the show, however, and has not only upset fans, but other celebrities as well.
Actress Lorena Herrera has expressed her displeasure with Levy's dropping out, going so far as to call him names.
"That's being a climber, who uses others for their own benefit," she said. "Now that he is famous in the United States, what does he need Mexico for."
Herrera's husband, Roberto Assad, is participating in the show. The actress believes that betting on someone who is not from Mexico, or at least actively working in Mexico, was the producer's mistake.
Herrera explained that there is plenty of talented and handsome men in Mexico, and that one of them should have been given a chance to participate. She added that Latinos from other countries have been known to come to Mexico and win over the audiences and then leave once they become popular.
"We are a country with a great international platform, with an impressive infrastructure in terms of telenovelas, movies and more," she said. "They use us and then they leave."
Herrera added that many try to take the same route as Levy did to break into Hollywood.
Before Levy decided not to take part of "Sin Censura," Herrera only had the most positive things to say about him.
"William Levy is a spectacular dude ... good body, face ..." she said. "He seems very sexy, and I want to see the show."
The show's promoters are likely to face investigation for, essentially, misleading the public. Levy was used in promotional materials before he backed out of the show at some point.
Levy decided to speak out about why he exited the show.
"Two months ago I talked to the producer, and it seemed to me that Omar [Suarez] did things differently for the public, something special and daring," Levy said. "He's the only person who I have worked for in the theater, but I told him to give me October to take care of prior engagements."
Levy eventually had to drop out completely because his projects went on longer than expected, but he still gave the show his seal of approval.
