Country music's best artists all got together for the biggest night of the year Wednesday. In addition, The 48th Country Music Awards included a great hosting duo: Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

The night got kicked off with a performance from veteran Kenny Chesney. Chesney pumped up the crowd, many who were still filtering in or buying beverages.

After Chesney's performance, it was Paisley and Underwood's time to shine.

All night, Paisley and Underwood were on their A-Game. They made a quick joke out of the formerly quarantined Ebola patient Kaci Hickox by singing a version of "Jolene," and replacing Jolene with "Quarantine."

Perhaps the biggest joke, which ended up revealing something big, was the baby joke.

Paisley prodded Underwood for the baby's gender. Underwood initially refused and denied all of his requests. There was one slip-up, certainly on purpose, that ended up revealing the gender, though.

Paisley said to Underwood, "Hey, you can name him Garth!" He then followed up with "Hashtag: Blew it." The crowd laughed, but many of them didn't realize that they just found out that Carrie was having a boy!

Later, the two got a little political by mocking the democrats' failure at the polls on election night. The crowd roared when Underwood said, "I'm pretty sure that's why the democrats lost the Senate."

Paisley added even more fuel to the political fire by teasing how easy it was to get past security at the White House.

Besides politics, Underwood and Paisley were funny, cute and a blast to watch. The duo has been hosting the CMAs since 2008, and it sure looks like they will get it again next year. Their excellent stage presence and ability to ad lib make them the ideal hosts for an event like this.

Another great Underwood joke came when she gave a big diss to Taylor Swift for not being involved in country music lately. She said country was dealing with "Post Partum Taylor Swift Disorder."
