Manny Pacquiao Next Fight: Amir Khan Predicts Pacquiao Will Win Convincingly Against Chris Algieri
Former light welterweight champion Amir Khan believes that Manny Pacquiao will score a convincing win against Chris Algieri in their upcoming fight on Nov. 22 at Venetian Resort in Macau, China.
Khan said in an interview with Fighthype that Algieri is not a big puncher, but the Huntington, New York native is a good boxer. However, the Britain is convinced that Pacquiao is superior in terms of boxing skills and explosiveness.
"Pacquiao will be the winner," Algieri said. "I think he's a better boxer; well, I mean, he's a stronger boxer, he punches harder, he has a little bit more quicker movements, he's more explosive. I think that will win him the fight. Algieri is not a big puncher, but a good boxer. But I think Manny could deal with him."
Khan said that Pacquiao is showing signs of slowing down because of age, but the Bolton, England native reiterated that Pacquiao's experience will be a big factor in the upcoming fight.
Algieri, who is coming off a big split decision win against Ruslan Provodnikov, is aiming to steal Pacquiao's World Boxing Organization welterweight title. He is aware that most people are already counting him based on his performance against Provodnikov, but he declared that fight fans will see a different Algieri in the Nov. 22 fight.
"My style as a boxer has come a long way this year," he said via Tha Boxing Voice. "We are really still adding new tools and developing. I was a different guy on June 14, and I'll be a different guy on November 22. I came into the camp in fantastic shape, so we've been really trying to add to the game instead of trying to make up lost ground."
Algieri, who has a 20-0 record with eight knockouts, said that he has been studying Pacquiao's style as he is preparing to disrupt the Filipino boxing icon's rhythm in order to have a good chance of pulling off an upset.
"Manny is the king of in and out," Algieri said of Pacquiao. "He's a fast and explosive guy, but he's a rhythm fighter. Keeping him at the end of the jab and keep him in control and to offset his rhythm is the name of the game."
