British comedian, actor, writer and director Ricky Gervais is set to star in a French movie remake about clueless journalists. Eric Bana ("Hulk," "Deliver Us from Evil") is expected to costar in this comedy film project.

It was revealed last week that the odd pair of Gervais and Bana will work together on a comedy titled "Special Correspondents." Gervais is expected to direct and co-write the French remake.

The original 2009 French feature comedy is titled "Envoyés Très Speciaux." It was about two journalists who get stranded in Paris, but they pretend to report from the Iraq War front. The "Special Correspondents" English version might borrow a lot from that 2009 film project.

"Special Correspondents" is the story of a hit radio journalist, Bana, and his technician, Gervais. They are both tasked with reporting on a rebel uprising in Ecuador. Then the duo fake their own kidnapping while pretending to be there. But they are actually hiding out above a New York City restaurant across the street from their radio station, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

The story then escalates to a point where it becomes internationally known. Bana and Gervais' characters, fearing to be found out, decide to sneak into Ecuador and find the rebels they are supposed to be reporting on.

Bana has recently starred in "Deliver Us from Evil," and is currently filming Disney's drama "The Finest Hours" with Chris Pine.

Gervais has co-directed feature films such as "The Invention of Lying" and "Cemetery Junction." "Special Correspondents" will be Gervais' first solo feature film.

Is Bana funny enough to co-star with Gervais?According to one report, Bana has performed comedy before. He rose to fame as a comedian in the early 1990s appearing in a sketch comedy series titled "Full Frontal." Bana also starred in a short-lived show called "Seven."

"Special Correspondents" is not the first (nor last) French-to-English remake film. The original film starred Gérard Jugnot, Gérard Lanvin and Omar Sy, The Guardian reported. The other remade French comedies include "Three Men and a Baby," "Taxi," starring Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah, and "Dinner for Schmucks," among others.

"Special Correspondents" is expected to start filming in Spring 2015 in locations such as New York and Vancouver.
