Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg Reveals Feelings Were Hurt by ‘The Social Network’ Movie
During a recent public Q&A at Facebook's California headquarter, Facebook co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg confessed to having hurt feelings towards the 2010 "The Social Network" film, about the creation of Facebook, the Guardian reports.
"I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about that movie in a while. I kind of blocked that one out," Zuckerberg said during the Q&A.
The 30-year-old Internet entrepreneur then went on to reveal that he was actually in a relationship with his current wife, Priscilla Chan, at the time that he created Facebook, although the film depicted Zuckerberg as a single man who created Facebook to attract women.
"...they just kind of made up a bunch of stuff that I found kind of hurtful," Zuckerberg continued. "There were pretty glaring things that were just made up about the movie that made it pretty hard to take seriously."
Despite the glaring mistakes that Zuckerberg pointed out in the film, he was still able to name some the film's accuracies such as showcasing Zuckerberg's minimalist approach towards his wardrobe.
Zuckerberg explained that his decision to wear the same kind of shirt to work everyday was to "clear my life so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything, except how to best serve this community [of Facebook users]."
In addition to discussing his issues with "The Social Network," Zuckerberg also addressed Facebook's latest Messenger feature that requires Facebook users to install an additional Messenger app on their phones to message their friends.
"We really believe this is a better experience," Zuckerberg said about the Messenger app."My goal was never to make Facebook cool. I'm not a cool person, and I've never really tried to be cool. Our goal isn't necessarily to make it particularly exciting to use; we want to make it useful."
The film makers of "The Social Network" have not yet responded to Zuckerberg's issues with the film.
