If you are driving through the streets of Mexico, you will notice that its transit police has a new look but with an added female component -- orange eye shadow and lipstick to match its new orange and black uniforms.

In a new effort to fight corruption in the state, authorities have hired hundreds of women and put them in charge of issuing all traffic violations in the central state of Mexico, according to NPR.

"They're trying to crack down on the famous mordida, or bribe - a favorite among Mexico's crooked traffic cops," NPR added.

The reasoning behind the shift is that authorities believe "women are more trustworthy and less corrupt than men."

The Mexico State governor is getting the word about the feminine female force through advertisements on highway billboards, radio and TV.

Ecatepec Police Chief Carlos Ortega Carpinteyro told NPR that "women are much better suited for traffic duty than men because people respect them more."

"When a man is approached by a female cop, even though he is the stronger sex, he calms down and will listen to her," he said. "Women are more trustworthy and take their oath of office more seriously. They don't ask for or take bribes."

While the vote of confidence in women is admirable, there are checks to ensure the female transit force is trustworthy and what they consider to be of sound mind and body.

Carpinteyro added that the transit force is "thoroughly vetted - psychologically and economically - and all are free of drugs."

Is is hard to recruit women to join the transit force in Mexico?

"No, he told NPR. "The biggest challenge is finding a woman that portrays a good image. We get too many short and fat ones. We need tall women that render respect when out in the streets."

So, what does this mean for the short and fat male cops, do they have to go on leave until they shape up to gain respect as well? Maybe the attractive all-female transit force can ticket them for not being up to par.
