On Friday, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck reunited on the E! News red carpet to promote their HBO series, "Project Greenlight."

In addition to promoting their passion project, the duo also spilled the beans on Damon's decision to reprise his starring role in the popular "Bourne" film series.

"Well, [Damon's] going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I've just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness. So....," Affleck told E! News.

Damon then chimed in, revealing that the upcoming Bourne film is scheduled to hit theaters sometime "next year."

"It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes," Damon explained to E! News.

Though there are four Bourne film's in total with a fifth film that we now know is on the way, it will be Damon and Greengrass' third time working together on the Bourne series, E! News reports.

Greengrass' decision to directed another Bourne film might come as a shock for Bourne fans since Greengrass previously revealed that he is done directing Bourne films, says E! News.

"In the end I felt I had given it my all in two films I'm very proud of and didn't want to make another if I didn't believe it could be as good if not better," Greengrass told Deadline last year. "I couldn't come up with an idea, and the business reality of franchises is that when a studio has a Bourne, they're obliged to make one every couple of years. I discovered in my heart I didn't have another one in me."

"The Bourne Identity"--which first hit theaters in 2002--is the first of four films in the "Bourne" franchise.

"The Bourne Identity" is based off the novel of the same name by Robert Ludlum.

The film and novel center around protagonist Jason Bourne--played by Damon--who loses his memory and attempts to discover his true identity amid a brewing conspiracy within the CIA.
