Black Friday Deals and Shopping: Target Will Open on Thanksgiving, Releases Early Black Friday Deals
Big-box retailer Target has released a list of sales available only on Monday. This preview of what customers can expect on Black Friday will be available until midnight in an attempt to boost sales.
According to the Associated Press, Target has set up a series of early deals for customers ahead of Black Friday. Aside from the sales available on Monday until 12 a.m. Eastern time, which are available both in-store and online, Target will also make available select Black Friday sales on Wednesday Nov. 26.
Some see this as an attempt by the retailer to increase sales after a recent slump. The company also announced last month that orders over $50 will have free shipping, which increased sales by 30 percent 48 hours after the announcement was made. The offer will be available until Dec. 20.
However, the retailer is losing points amongst its employees and labor rights advocates because the company announced it will open on Thanksgiving night at 6 p.m., according to the Huffington Post.
In an announcement, the company also said it will make some sales available on Cartwheel, its mobile savings app, from Nov. 23 to 29. Some deals include 50 percent off a different toy each day, 60 percent off select movie titles, 40 percent off select multi-piece bakeware sets, and 30 percent off board games like Candyland and Chutes and Ladders.
"We know our guests are pulled in a million different directions as the holidays get underway, so we're helping them save time and money by offering more access to Black Friday deals," said Kathee Tesija, Target's chief merchandising and supply chain officer. "Whether shopping online, on their phone or in our stores, Target's guests will find Black Friday deals on top gifts throughout November. And to deliver even more savings, all Target.com orders ship for free until December 20."
