New York Knicks president Phil Jackson did not appreciate NBA commissioner Adam Silver's comment about the way his team is executing the vaunted "triangle offense."

Silver said in jest on Thursday that the Knicks are still learning the triangle offense because he did not understand the way New York executed offense in their loss to the Detroit Pistons last Wednesday.

"I watched the Knicks' game last night, clearly, they're still learning the triangle," Silver said with a laugh. "I still don't understand it."

When asked to address Silver's comments, Jackson, who won 11 championship rings as coach using the triangle offense, said that he was not "humored" by the commissioner's take on their offensive sets.

"He doesn't need to get in on that," Jackson said. "There's enough focus on [the] triangle. It's not anything. It's a system. It's simple basketball. Just play the game. We're over the triangle; let's get to business and play the right way."

The Knicks are off to a slow start this season, losing in six of their first eight games under first-year head coach Derek Fisher.

While most fans are already getting disappointed with their performance, however, Jackson said he is seeing improvements from the team every game.

"I see growth in this team, and I'm optimistic," he explained, insisting that the Knicks need time to execute the triangle offense better. "It's not always the final score; it's sometimes how you play. I think we're playing the game much better, and we're getting some activity that we like to see."

Carmelo Anthony is averaging 20.3 points, but the superstar is shooting just 39.1 percent from the field. Jackson recently talked to Anthony, and the 30-year-old forward said that he received pointers from the Hall of Fame coach on how to perform well under the intricate system.

"It kind of gave me some insight into how to approach this new system and what to expect and what mindset to have out there on the basketball court," Anthony said of his recent talk with Jackson.
