Carlos Vives, accomplished Colombian singer, has received five Latin Grammy Award nominations this year, alongside artists Javier Garza, and Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas.

Corazón Profundo, Vive's thirteenth studio album was released in late April of this year by Sony Music, and gained immediate commercial success. The romantic album has elements of Pop and Rock, and hints of the popular folk music of Columbia, Vallenato. The catchy album possesses a great deal of chart toppers. The single "Volvia Nacer" (Born Again) went straight to #1 on US Billboard Latin Pop Songs and US Billboard Hot Latin Songs, signifying one of the strongest comebacks in Latin Music History. "Como Le Gusta a Tu Cuerpo," which features Brazilian Sertaneja singer Michel Telo, which has more of a mainstream style.

Vives, who is a three-time Latin Grammy Award winner (Dejame Entrar, "Dejame Entrar," and El Rock de Mi Pueblo) and a Grammy Award winner (Dejame Entrar), said in a press release, "To be nominated is already an accomplishment, and I want all the artist in Colombia to know that these nominations are also theirs. May we win."

Vives is in the running to sweep Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Tropical Song for "Volvia Nacer;" and Album of the Year and Best Tropical Fusion Album for the Corazon Profundo. But, the talented Columbian star has stiff competition. In the running, Miguel Bose, Alejandro Sanz, Bajofando, and nine-time Grammy winner, Natalie Cole for her debut Spanish-language album, En Español.

The 14th Annual Latin Grammy Awards will be held on Thursday, November 21 in Las Vegas, and will be broadcast on the U.S. Spanish-language network, Univision, from 8-11p.m. ET/PT. The outcome of the record-breaking 9,400+ submissions and input from all members of The Latin Recording Academy will be tabulated, and will well anticipated provide results.
