Jay Z Vanity Fair Cover: Rapper Graces Front of November Issue [PIC]
Hov will be on the cover of Vanity Fair's November issue. During "his most revealing interview ever," Jay Z candidly discusses his drug dealing past, his $500 million fortune, pursuing his wife Beyoncé, and the trademark of his daughter Blue Ivy's name, as well as the 2008 election of Barack Obama and his new job as a sports agent with Roc Nation Sports.
This is not the first time the 43-year-old rapper has been on the cover of Vanity Fair. He appeared on it in 2007, alongside George Clooney for their work in Africa. Also, he and his spouse both were featured on the cover of Vanity Fair's 2001 music issue, and Jay Z talks about how their relationship was back then, "We were just beginning to try to date each other." "Well, you know, you've got to try first," he explains of courtship. "You got to dazzle... wine and dine."
The Brooklyn rapper says his line "She was a good girl 'til she knew me" from "Magna Carta Holy Grail's Part II (On The Run)" is about Beyoncé. He is asked if his wife is a good girl now, and he responds, "Nah. She's gangsta now."
In the latest edition of Vanity Fair's "New Establishment" issue, Jay Z seems like he's living on top of the world, wearing an all-white tuxedo and black bow tie. The hip hop mogul comments about the recent Forbe's list and his net worth at half a billion dollars, "I'm not motivated by that. I don't sit around with my friends and talk about money, ever. On a record, that's different."
The rapper expresses his love towards his 18-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. "She's my biggest fan. If no one bought the 'Magna Carta,' the fact that she loves it so much, it gives me the greatest joy. And that's not like a cliché. I'm really serious. Just to see her - 'Daddy song, more daddy.' She's genuine, she's honest, because she doesn't know it makes me happy. She just wants to hear it."
Jay Z also shows his protective side as a parent, and explains the reason why he and Beyoncé tried to trademark Blue Ivy's name. "People wanted to make products based on our child's name. And you don't want anybody trying to benefit off you baby's name. It wasn't for us to do anything; as you see, we haven't done anything."
