Singer Justin Bieber may be returning to South America much sooner than he expected. The singer has been summoned by an Argentine judge to answer questions concerning an alleged attack that happened a year ago in the Argentine capital. If Bieber fails to comply, Interpol may arrest him.

Investigate Judge Facundo Cubas ordered Bieber to appear before an Argentine court to answer questions concerning an attack perpetrated by his bodyguards when the singer was last in the South American nation, according to the Associated Press. On Nov. 9, 2013, paparazzi photographer Diego Pesoa alleges he was chased out of INK nightclub in Buenos Aires and beaten by Bieber’s bodyguards.

On Thursday Judge Cubas summoned Interpol and asked them to use all “necessary means” to find and inform the singer that he had 60 days to appear before an Argentine court. If he does not comply, an international arrest warrant will be issued.

Bieber, if convicted, could face up to a year in prison for causing minor injuries.

According to the Guardian, Pesoa’s lawyer, Matias Morla, claims Bieber told his bodyguards to attack the photographer.

Although the attack and potential criminal charges are not something new for the singer—he has been charged with various different in various countries—some believe Bieber’s criminal misconduct may be beneficial to him.

Speaking to the Guardian, Usher, who discovered the singer and unleashed him on the world, says Bieber’s recent legal escapades could help his career.

“Any artist has ebbs and flows in their life and career,” he said about Bieber’s recent troubles with the law. “I think the story is just begun, you’ve not seen the best of his talent. In life, you have to go through something to get to something. From that the inspiration comes having something of substance to talk about; otherwise you’re just considered to be fluff.”
